Blessing of the Easter Baskets

The tradition of having the Easter Basket blessed, containing items for the initial Easter meal, has been a cherished tradition among Catholic for generations, particularly among Eastern European families. Over time, this custom has been embraced by individuals from various cultural backgrounds, due to its profound symbolism. On Holy Saturday morning, families gather to prepare their Easter Baskets, filling them with symbolic items before bringing them to church for a blessing ahead of the Easter banquet. 

Historically, families included meats, bread, eggs, vegetables, and wine in their baskets to sanctify the entire Easter season. However, there are no strict limitations on what you can include; feel free to pack your basket with whatever delights you plan to enjoy on Easter Sunday or the treats you refrained from during Lent.
