In praise, there is the speaking forth of one confessing; in singing, the affection of one loving." St. Augustine of Canterbury. In other words: "He who sings prays twice.".
The musicians at St. Augustine's Parish offer different styles of music, from solo to choral. Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all you lands. Praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Ps 150:4 A cantor acts as the Leader of Song, accompanied by the organ.
Praise the Lord with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of 10 strings, with loud shouts. For the word of the Lord is upright, and all of his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord. Ps 33:3 Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass choir members, accompanied by organ, piano, percussion, brass and strings; contemporary as well as traditional repertoire.
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all the earth: make a loud noise and rejoice and sing praise. Ps 98:4 Guitars, piano, bass guitar, percussion - choir music that's a little less than traditional.
