You are planning to have your child baptized. In doing so you are accepting the responsibility of training your child into the practice of the faith. It will be your duty to bring this child to keep God’s commandment as Christ taught us, by loving God and one another. Norms on the reception of the Sacrament of Baptism a) When the parents of an infant, or a person wishing to be baptized, have regularly attended a parish other than their proper parish, the baptism is to take place in the parish where they attend. b) An individual becomes a member of a parish by residing within its boundaries. Parishioners of St. Augustine’s are those who reside between the west side of Oak Street to the east of Balaclava Street; from the False Creek area to the north side of King Edward Avenue (Vancouver). One of the parents should be a practising Catholic and a member of St. Augustine’s Parish. If not a member of St. Augustine’s Parish, permission from the pastor of the parish in which the parents reside is required.
